Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen a car stolen during a violent burglary in Wilmslow.

A gang of up to five masked men burst into the house on Prestbury Road, between 10pm and 11pm on Sunday April 22.

The group assaulted the homeowner and demanded access to a safe, jewellery and cash. They then assaulted him again and restrained him along with two women, leaving them in the bathroom. The man received minor injuries to his face.

As well as jewellery and cash, the burglars also stole keys to a silver BMW 320 coupe and made off in the car.

They were last seen heading down the A34 towards Manchester.

DC Jim Bowbeer said: "This was an extremely distressing incident for the family which is why we're still keen to speak to anyone who saw the silver BMW 320 coupe which had been stolen from the address and later abandoned on Manvers Street, in Reddish.

"The car which had been left outside a computer shop was recovered from the location on 16 May 2012 by police.

"I would urge anyone who saw the car being left at the scene, or any suspicious activity to contact police in order to help us trace the people responsible for this distressing crime. "
