ALICE Barlow has the voice and looks of an angel - and she's about to be a star.

The talented 15-year-old, who has just taken her GCSE exams at Fallibroome High School, has a prestigious CV that belies her age and has just qualified for the national finals of singing competition Festival4Stars.

Last year, the all-singing, all-dancing teenager finished second out of the whole country in the 11-14 category, but hopes to step up a gear as she qualified as the Manchester and Sheffield regional winner in the 15 and over category.

She said: "I just love singing and was overjoyed when I won.

"I did not expect to do so well.

"I have a singing lesson in Manchester every fortnight, a presentation lesson every week and singing with Cheryl Markin in Macclesfield every week.

"I have got PA equipment at home so I practise pretty much every night."

Alice, of Andertons Lane, in Henbury, is looking forward to performing at the finals in November and is currently perfecting her performance, but is appealing for a local business to sponsor her.

The sponsor will have the business logo or title on the website, a full page cover advert in The National Finals and Gala Awards Dinner Programme as well as tickets to the show and dinner, and accommodation and breakfast at the hotel.

Despite running their own agricultural business, Alice's parents Sally, 48, and Alan, 49, act as chaperones for the youngster who performs around the country at various competitions and functions nearly every week.

The youngest of four siblings, James, 26, Hannah, 22, and Chris, 17, who is also musical, Alice is determined to be a pop star.

Despite having a background in musical theatre, having taken roles in South Pacific and Les Miserables, Alice believes her future lies in pop.

She said: "I just love to sing and want to be more well known and established."

There is a lot at stake for Alice for if she is one of the winners at the event at the Radisson SAS Hotel, in Glasgow, she will receive a day in a recording studio to record an album, advice from professionals, along with workshops, a photoshoot, and the opportunity to perform in showcases around the UK.

However, for now, Alice is about to study performing arts at Pendleton College.

Alice has her primary school teacher to thank for her success.

She said: "I was in Year Four when my teacher, Mrs Whitehead, told me I should have singing lessons."

Mum Sally added: "She is very dedicated and works very hard."
