An ambitious plan to transform two of Prestbury's iconic buildings has been submitted to planning chiefs.

Leaders at St Peter's want to extend part of the Grade-I listed church and re-build Ford House.

The £1.5million scheme would see a 229sqm extension to the north east corner of the church, and six townhouses and two apartments on land next to a new Ford House.

The Reverend Patrick Angier said: "The plans are an exciting, wonderful opportunity as a parish church to shape our buildings in a way we're proud of. We're a growing, thriving, welcoming church for everybody and will have the buildings that fit with that.

"We're going to be leaving a heritage so that generations to come will look back to this time and say thank you."

The project is currently before planning bosses and the church is asking residents to back it before consultation finishes on March 23. It would be funded by the sale of the land for the townhouses and flats.
