The Express is backing residents in a campaign to reopen Jasmine Park after it has been off limits for more than eight month.

The park near Whirley has been closed since July when Taylor Wimpey closed it off to carry out repairs over a minor health and safety issue.

But despite the problem been rectified it is still not in use, with both the Cheshire East Council and Taylor Wimpey refusing to take responsibility for reopening the facilities - which include a swing park, all weather facility, pavilion and football pitches.

Today in a showdown meeting with its developers Taylor Wimpey, Cheshire East representatives and leader Michael Jones, angry residents are set to finally get some answers as to why the park is locked up and when it may reopen.

The meeting takes place today at Broken Cross Methodist Church, Chelford Road, Macclesfield, at 2.15pm.

We will be covering the meeting live below, giving you a minute by minute account of what is happening and what the authorities are saying.
