A kitten found abandoned by the side of the road on Halloween has been named Pumpkin by her rescuers.

The moggy, who is estimated to be only three or four weeks old, was discovered wet and hungry and handed over to the Macclesfield branch of the RSPCA.

After a visit to the vets and some food and water she is now on the mend and living with a foster family.

Maaria Cooper, 30, the branch’s cat fostering co-ordinator said: “We had a call from a farmer in Sandbach who said he found her by the side of the road all wet, hungry, scared and meowing her little heart out. She’s only around 3-4 weeks old and was very vulnerable. We don’t know if she was abandoned by a person or her mother.

“She is now in our care, drinking kitten formula, eating and all snug with her new foster family after a traumatic start in life.”
