Almost 70 jobs are set to be created in Macclesfield town centre after a low-cost retailer announced it is opening its second store in the town.
B&M has created 69 jobs after securing new premises at the former site of TJ Hughes on Exchange Street. The 15,000sq ft store will open on Saturday, September 13.
It is the second B&M store in the town, after the retailers Silkworks site on Pickford street opened in early 2008.
And the search is now on for a ‘local hero’ who will help the business cut the ribbon at the venture’s launch party.
Heroes can be nominated by friends, family or work colleagues and could be someone who makes life better for people in the area, works hard for a particular cause or is renowned for their charity work.
Chris Leavens, store manager at the new site, said: “We wanted a true VIP to officially open our new store and what better way than to ask customers to nominate those who make a real difference to people’s lives in and around Macclesfield.
“They will be a deserving member of the community and the lucky nominee will have the chance to be a VIP for the morning.
“We’re not judging by age or the type of support, we just want someone who goes that extra mile and who we can give something back to for a change”.
The worthy winner will also receive £250 worth of vouchers to spend in store.
