Cars were vandalised during a spate of criminal damage incidents in the town.

Police are investigating a series of criminal damage to cars and in gardens over two nights at the weekend.

Car aerials were ripped off and tyres slashed during the incidents on Prestbury Road, Bridge Street and Newton Street overnight on Thursday, and another car was damaged overnight on Friday.

In total five cars were affected and there were also garden ornaments damaged during the incidents.

The damage took place between 6.30pm and 7am on both nights.

PC Craig Williams, from Macclesfield Neighbourhood Policing Unit, said: “We’re investigating a spate of criminal damage and urge people to get in touch if they know anything.

“The roads where the incidents took place seem to indicate a person’s route and we think it could be down to drunken behaviour, but then it also happened in the same location the next night.

“The damage works out expensive for car owners, particularly with tyres being slashed so we want to find who’s responsible.”

Call police on 101 with information.
