A death of a tiler found hanged was due to misadventure, an inquest has ruled.

Michael Holland was discovered in his home on Riverside Court, Coal Pit Lane, Langley at 10am on August 24 by police and paramedics after the alarm was raised over his welfare.

The 35-year-old was found hanged in a walk-in wardrobe, an inquest at Macclesfield Town Hall heard.

During its investigation Cheshire Police found a number of photographs near to Mr Holland, the court heard.

Det Sgt Robert Balfour told the hearing that “the clothing Mr Holland was wearing suggested that he didn’t intend to take his own life.”

Recording a verdict of misadventure, Alan Moore, assistant coroner for Cheshire, concluded that while Mr Holland had placed the ligature around his neck, he had not intended to take his own life.

Mr Holland’s family told the inquest that in the days leading up to his death he had been ‘the happiest he had been in years’.

The last person to see him alive was his neighbour Mrs Barber at 11pm on August 23.

She described him as ‘bright’ and ‘cheerful’.
