Young people are invited to meet the Macclesfield businesses who have pledged to get them into work.

The Macclesfield Pledge asks employers to promise to help provide every young person in town with the opportunity to find a job or further training.

It’s been organised by Macclesfield Chamber of Commerce, Cheshire East Council, Everybody Leisure and Macclesfield Town Council, and will be followed by a careers fair.

Trevor Langston, who works for South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce and is steering the project, said: “Local employers are in a unique position to influence the way young people are prepared for work.

Macclesfield Pledge invites all business people to the launch of this major new initiative which supports the development of young people whilst providing businesses with enthusiastic and innovative employees of the future.”

The event takes place at Macclesfield Town Hall on Wednesday, February 3 from midday to 12.30pm. School groups will attend the careers fair from 12.30pm, with members of the public invited from 3.30pm until 7pm.
