Hit TV series Peaky Blinders has begun filming for its third series in Macclesfield.

Dozens of crew members and actor Cillian Murphy descended on Rainow to start shooting the third series of the blockbuster show, with cast and camera crews spotted on Hooleyhey Lane on Monday.

It is the second location in Macclesfield selected by production crew with scenes from the second series filmed in Christ Church on Bridge Street.

Peaky Binders were filming at Hooleyhey Lane, Rainow, on October 5.

Builder Martin Casey, from Macclesfield, came across the filming and snapped a quick photo on his phone.

He said: “I know my wife loves the show, but I’ve not got round to watching it yet.” A spokesman from Milk Publicity, which represents the show, said: “Macclesfield is one of the many locations that we will be visiting over the course of the shoot.”

The TV show is a gangster epic set in Birmingham just after World War I and is based on the historic gang who wear razor blades in their cap and are led by boss Tommy Shelby, played by Murphy.
