A video featuring 1,500 school pupils and 200 teachers has become an internet hit.

The high-energy video made by Fallibroome Academy which aims to show off everything the school has to offer has attracted more than 25,000 views.

It has caught the attention of education bloggers and been viewed as far away as Abu Dhabi, Budapest and Italy, attracting more hits all the time.

It starts with an anxious new pupil being dropped off on her first day at school, but as she walks through the door she is given a lively welcome.

She is greeted by students dressed as the Blues Brothers who lead her one a tour of the school where every room is packed with pupils - singing, dancing and taking part in various activities.

Pupils do dramatic experiments show off the science department and march in backpacks with tents to represent orienteering.

There are sections for all subjects with themed costumes and meticulously planned sequences by pupils and teachers.

The video named First Day at Fallibroome ends with a spectacular scene filmed above the tennis courts where every pupil helps form letters to spell ‘You’ll love it here’. They change the colour of the letters by pulling blazers down and back up again.

The video was filmed in seven sessions but is seamlessly edited to make it look like one take, expertly done by senior media technician Tim Jones.

The idea was by headteacher Francis Power.

He said: “I was shown something similar by a school in Northern Ireland four years ago and wanted to do it here. It’s a major undertaking but then I decided to go for it. I wanted to celebrate the fantastic sense of community that we have at Fallibroome and highlight the amazing things that go on in our school. It shows what is possible when the entire school works together. Our staff and students have engaged enthusiastically in this hugely ambitious undertaking and we are incredibly proud of the video.

“We wanted to show there’s more to education than exams, it’s about culture, enjoyment, pride and relationships. We’ve had a massive response. We expected a few thousand but had 23,000 after a couple of days.

“I can’t say how proud I am.”
