Garden waste collections will stop for two months over the festive period.

Cheshire East will suspend its collections of household green waste because it says there is a drop in demand over the festive season. Collections will stop from the week beginning Sunday, December 4 and restart during the week beginning Sunday February, 12 2017.

Coun Don Stockton, cabinet member for regeneration, said: “It makes sense to suspend the garden waste service over the winter months as we know that demand is low. Anyone who has garden waste to dispose of can visit the household waste recycling centres across Cheshire East.”

The waste recycling centres at Alsager, Arclid, Bollington, Congleton, Crewe, Knutsford, Macclesfield, Middlewich and Poynton are open all year round, seven days a week, except for Christmas Day.

Garden waste is collected fortnightly, so residents are advised to check the council’s website for details of their last collection of 2016 and first collection of 2017.
