Fed up with the office grind? Fancy working in one of the most beautiful places in Cheshire?

The opportunity of a lifetime has emerged to run a new cafe in Tegg’s Nose Country Park.

Cheshire East Council, which manages the visitors centre where the business will be based, is looking for a partner to capitalise on the tens of thousands of visitors who travel to the beauty spot every year.

Countryside Ranger Martin James, who is based at the site, said the chance of opening a cafe is the opportunity of a lifetime.

He said: “With views taking in Macclesfield Forest, Shutlingsloe, Sutton Common and the Macclesfield Canal, Tegg’s Nose is arguably one of the most stunning places to work.

“An estimated 47,000 visitors come to the area each year and we put on around 40 events each year to encourage people to come to the area. This place is teeming with people on the weekends and in holidays. A business would thrive here selling teas, cake, soups and lunches.”

The council started a tendering process earlier this year and has already had interest from experienced caterers and first timers.

It is now running an open day on June 6 event to meet more prospective cafe owners.

Martin said: “We haven’t had a working cafe here for about 14 years. There is a kitchen area and large room, and we have installed a log-burning stove, but this is very much a blank canvas.

“We are looking for someone creative and imaginative who will make it a success.”

Tegg’s Nose used to be a quarry which produced a sandstone that paved many of Macclesfield’s roads.

Quarrying finally ended in 1955 and some of the old machinery is still strewn around the area.

Now a landscape of moorland, meadows, woodland and a reservoir, Tegg’s Nose is a natural wonderland and home to an abundance of wildlife.

It’s not just walkers who use the area, it is well used for cycling, horse riding, fishing, and rock climbing.

If you are interested is taking a look at the visitors’ centre, drop in on Saturday June 6 from 10am to 1pm.
