A driver who died in a road accident has been named as Sean Gilbert.

The 29-year-old, passed away in hospital as a result of injuries sustained in a road accident on Priory Lane, Upton Priory, on Saturday morning.

Mr Gilbert, of Macclesfield, was driving a Ford Fiesta when he crashed into a Honda CRV on Saturday at 9.22am.

Police say he was involved in ‘a number of incidents’ in his car immediately before the crash, and had hit a wall on Eaglais Way.

Two fire crews from Macclesfield found Mr Gilbert trapped in the vehicle and cut him free.

He was airlifted to Royal Stoke Hospital with serious injuries.

Sadly on Sunday afternoon he died as a result of his injuries.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision and also the incidents the Fiesta was involved in immediately prior to this collision.

Officers are investigating and urge the public to come forward with information.

Anyone with information should contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 248 of 12 September.

Police said that there was one person in each car.

The other driver of the CRV isn’t believed to have suffered any injuries but he was checked out at Macc Hospital as a precaution.
