• UPDATE: We are happy to confirm that one of the teenagers injured in the crash has been released from hospital. Hannah Ditcham continues to be cared for at Salford Royal Hospital.

A teenage girl remains seriously ill in hospital more than a month after a horror crash at a notorious accident blackspot.

A black Vauxhall Corsa driven by a 17-year-old man collided with a wall on the Buxton Old Road before flipping onto its roof at around 10.50pm on October 11.

It had been travelling from Tegg’s Nose in the direction of Macclesfield when the incident occurred.

Two of the passengers, both 16-year-old girls from Macclesfield, sustained significant injuries.

Hannah Ditcham, a pupil at Fallibroome Academy, is currently being treated at Salford Royal Hospital, a trauma centre specialising in head injuries.

She is in a stable condition but is seriously ill.

The other girl, whose name has not been released, is being treated at Manchester Royal Infirmary. Her condition is improving steadily.

The driver and a third passenger – a 16-year-old girl from Macclesfield – suffered minor injuries.

Police have confirmed that they have made no arrests following the accident.

Witnesses are urged to contact Cheshire police on 101, quoting incident 978 of 11 October.
