Council chiefs are taking two pensioners to court over a row about their flowerbeds.

Beryl Veronica Pearce, 70, and fiancee Robert Michael Redfern, 71, of Sandringham Way, Wilmslow, are accused of causing a nuisance by depositing a flowerbed, gravel and block paving on a footway adjacent to their property.

According to court documents the couple were ordered to remove it by Cheshire East Council’s highways department on May 7 last year, but failed to do it.

They appeared in front of South Cheshire Magistrates’ Court and denied the allegations on January 19.

They are due to stand trial in front of a district judge at the same court on April 21 and 22.
