The woman in charge of adult care services has said the council has got its numbers right after closing Hollins View.

Coun Janet Clowes, Cabinet member for adult care, told the Express the council is monitoring the new set-up for families accessing respite care since Hollins View closed in the New Year. Instead of 30 beds at Hollins View the council is operating three beds at two care homes in Macclesfield as well as beds around the borough. The closure was despite a campaign to keep it open and the campaigners say there have been problems with carers accessing respite.

But coun Clowes said feedback so far indicates it was the right decision.

She said: “We’re monitoring the uptake on beds and the ratios are the same as last year. We’ve had no negative feedback about location. The beds were picked so people can stay close to home. We’re monitoring the situation but it looks so far like the numbers are right.”

She said a report on the changes will go before the Health and Adult Social Care Overview and Scrutiny Committee on Friday, April 29.

Campaign group Hollins View Watch will speak about the impact on families.
