Kind-hearted volunteers from Macclesfield are taking on a mammoth charity challenge to try and reach the summit of one of the world’s highest mountains.

And the daring pair of do-gooders won’t be on their own as they make their way up Tanzania's Kilimanjaro, as they will be joined by a couple of models.

Adam Edgar and Ming Davies – are set to embark on their epic adventure next month in aid of military charity Help for Heroes.

They were asked to take the trip by the charity, after also being involved with their employer’s – Edgar Brothers – annual Hotshots calendar, which also raises funds for Help the Heroes.

The business is Adam’s family’s company and imports military and sports equipment. The family are based at Chepstow Close in Tytherington.

They started the calendar eight years ago, and in that time it has raised tens of thousands of pounds for Help for Heroes by featuring models in military outfits and equipment.

The team travelling to the African country for the challenge will include calendar girls Kelly Hall and Daisy Watts together with Ming and Adam, who are all aiming to raise at least £25,000.

So far more than £20,000 has already been pledged on their fundraising page. Edgar Brothers, which is based at Lyme Green business park, is making its own donation of £10,000.

Derek Edgar, managing director of Edgar Brothers’, said: “The charity asked us to provide a team and Adam and Ming were very keen to get involved.

“And the girls are always so supportive of what we do – they give up their time to help make the calendar and raise funds.

“The calendar itself has just been released for this year and its doing very well.

“Over the years we have had some of the biggest names involved – including appearances by Lucy Pendrigh and Rosie
Jones.

“It goes all around the world now, as far as Australia and the US, where it supports the country’s ‘Wounded Warrior’ campaign. Altogether we sell thousands of copies.

“It is amazing how far its come since we started it, but its very rewarding to be supporting such a great cause like Help for Heroes.”
