Parking boss: ‘Wardens don’t drive shoppers

Pete Bainbridge
20/ 8/2008

THE MAN in charge of Macclesfield’s traffic wardens has sparked criticism after he claimed that parking enforcement does not drive shoppers away from the town centre.

MBC parking enforcement manager James Howard told Radio 4’s You and Yours programme: "I don’t believe it (parking enforcement) drives people away, I really don’t.

SlinkyWizard, Ropa Vieja and Estofado are served in bars here as tapas, small medium or large portions. To eat at bar tables as snacks or full meals.along with lots of other tapas recipies. Dont know why some bar owners dont do that in Macc. lovely food cooked in Garlic and Wine and all served from the bar all laid out to choose from in covered cabinets.all to eat with your beer. And VERY cheap as well.

PS. slinkyWizard. maybe you could pass the recipies on to those moaning landlords, who cant make ends meet, so they can have a Canarian food night. (something different) to get the punters in. people eating Garlic in Macc will keep the flue down there.

SlinkyWizard, Glad you are enjoying them. What kind of canarian recipe do you want next?? ROPA VIEJA. (means old clothes) or ESTFADO (means poor mans stew) ?? very healthy food. but you have to use wine, which is very cheap here. They are both canarian stews, one has lots of chick peas in it.

   PS SlinkyWizard,

Could also be someone who is ON HERE ALREADY, who else would give themselves a name and then add where they hail from? (that was a bit dubious to me from the start). To like showbusy type name. As in Hi! im so and so from timbucktoo.

Could be Maccforum. How better to get this site going like it has recently. I really dont mind at all if it is.At least maccforum knows us now ha ha ha. Very clever.

Well I am very happy that Tomo decided to undertake this experiment. It's been a wonderfully informative psychological analysis of the MEN patrons and of the effects of online forums. Truly interesting and inspiring.

And, even better, now the results are in he has left. Or so he claims.

"Of course, I'll keep reading, you all amuse me too much, but I plan to take no further active part. Don't bother responding; I won't reply (even though I have a small bet that you can't resist)."

Well you've certainly won that bet, Tomo. I know that I couldn't resist replying to your message, if only just to inform you, as you are still reading this, that I don't believe anyone takes this site as seriously as you seem to. In fact, I think the vast majority of people are here to have fun, a concept you obviously have lost through spending too much time conducting your scientific experiments on online forums.

Gee wizz tomo, secret experiments, mind control?!, on the Macc Express website comments page!, seriously Tomo no one else takes this as serious as you.

When are you presenting your findings?, or email me a copy of the report.

Your a strange one Tomo. Why you read anger into peoples comments says more about you than anyone else. You have also admitted you have been posting comments to get a reaction, then criticise people who you claim only post for exactly the same reasons!

Get off your high horse mate, stop taking yourself so seriously, all this hypothesis and test talk, you starting to sound like a mad scientist mate.

Go and have a walk, theres some lovely greenery where you live Tomo.

TOMO. You accuse others of exactly what you are doing on here yourself, and you even admit you only came on here to PROVOKE people.

So there is only you that has been sad on here because you were on here for the only reason of which you accuse others off, challenging and provoking people. I have not been on here long myself. and can take a joke, However i am on here and im sure others are on here for the right reasons. To debate. comment on things that they wish to and have a joke even now and again.

What a shame you did not come on here for genuine reasons. like to join in. And you came on for ulterior reasons (Just for your own amusement at us) and to challenge us. THATS SAD!! I did feel picked on by YOU. but not by anybody else on here.

And how sad to be a voyeur on here and not join in with us all in the future. Why bother eavesdropping on what we are all saying?????

Anyway wish you well and all good luck for the future and hope the next time you join in on a forum its for the same reasons as anybody else on it so that you can enjoy it yourself.

Over the short space of time I've posted here, I've come to feel sorry for some of you.

If this is all you can think of to do with your time - attacking anyone who dares to put their head above the parapet on grounds as spurious as having a shirt collar unbuttoned, rubbishing anything positive about Macc, even taking pot shots at the police - then I wonder what's gone so badly wrong in your lives that this has clearly become a valid method of self-expression.

To see what would happen, I've been deliberately posting comments designed to test this hypothesis. So far, I've been accused variously of working for the council, being a poster posing as someone else, working for the Tory party, etc. Anything to get a reaction, eh, but why? Why the need to get people to respond, even if it's in anger? Surely you're not all that badly disillusioned with life?

It's been an interesting experiment, but the results are in. Of course, I'll keep reading, you all amuse me too much, but I plan to take no further active part. Don't bother responding; I won't reply (even though I have a small bet that you can't resist).

In conclusion, it's clear that this is your collective little fiefdom. You'll defend it because it represents who you believe are. You're all very welcome to it, but always remember, no one else cares.

Tomo there is only one opinion which matters, The Satisfied Customer. Who said so the Safisfied Customer of Course. He sounds a bit, well very sacntimonious, don't you think?

Tomo. Oh! So thats what you want challenges, Sorry to disapoint you i am not on here to challenge anyone, Niether am i up for silly arguments only to say what i think on different issues, and also debate outcomes. You did not challenge anyway. what you did was misquoted me,then ask me questions only an idiot in life would answer.

As for you challenging me and making me out to be not telling the truth of what ive seen and making stories up How come you know it all about what happens with (some) council officials in there lunch hours, are you checking on each and everyone of them and timing there comings and goings. what makes you THE KNOWLEDGE of all there?.
