You'll have to wait for those Waitrose diggers

Pete Bainbridge

POYNTON’S shoppers will have to wait at least two years before their new village supermarket is opened, the company has confirmed.

Building work on the 16,000 sq ft Park Lane store will not even start until next summer.

So Anti Luddite thinks because 2600 mpeople signed a petition it should not have happened. What about the 13000 that didn't sign it? I thought we lived in a democracy.

Quite frankly, if Waitrose never start work, Poynton will be better off! This ugly building is the wrong development by the wrong company to benefit all but a few non-food traders in the village. The resulting traffic will be a nightmare. How the planners let it happen beats me! 2,600 local people petitioned against it.

They should be building affordable homes there instead.
