New stone laid at Curtis memorial

Karen Britton
30/ 7/2008

A NEW memorial has been laid to replace Ian Curtis’ stolen headstone but the search goes on for the original.

Fans of the late Joy Division lead singer were shocked when his memorial stone was taken from Macclesfield Cemetery a month ago with police appealing for its return.

Pleased that a new one has been laid, but it looks tacky compared to the old one. The old one had dignity. This situation is perplexing, and I'm ashamed to know that no-one has any common decency or respect for others now-a-days.A real shame.

I am sooooo perplexed by the whole situation. I am pleased that there has been a new stone laid, but, why does no-one have any common decency, or respect now-a-days?? The search should continue, as the new stone is not satisfactory enough for my liking. It looks tacky, the old one looked better.

Good thats its been replaced, but the hunt for the culprits should continue. Is nothing sacred anymore?
