Man leaves £1 million to churches and charities

EXCLUSIVE by Chris Morris
9/ 7/2008

CHURCHES in Macclesfield stand to benefit from a massive £1million windfall – a legacy from one of the town’s best-loved sons. Maxonian Charles Beswick, who died in January 2007, aged 98, bequeathed the money to the town as his final wish.

Inherited from his father, who ran a hugely successful bespoke tailor service on Mill Street, the lion’s share of his benevolent donation will go to three Macclesfield churches and an unnamed music society. A hospice also stands to benefit.
