Waitrose gets the go-ahead

POYNTON campaigners have vowed to petition the Deputy Prime Minister after council planning chiefs gave the go-ahead to controversial plans for a Waitrose.

The proposed development on Park Lane has sharply divided villagers with many feeling it would bring much needed business into the area, while others are fiercely against it.

Yes, its just what the place needs, the village shops are poor, i am amazed most of them are still in business, a professional retailer is just the ticket.

Just one look at the protesters shows whats become of the baby boomer generation - too much time on their hands & outspoken about irrevelant issues.

Now that Tesco has gone decidedly down market, a Waitrose in Poynton would add considerably to the attraction of the shopping area, in the same way it has enhanced Cheadle Hulme.
