Waitrose gets the go-ahead
Chris Morris7/ 5/2008
POYNTON campaigners have vowed to petition the Deputy Prime Minister after council planning chiefs gave the go-ahead to controversial plans for a Waitrose.
The proposed development on Park Lane has sharply divided villagers with many feeling it would bring much needed business into the area, while others are fiercely against it.
Now that Tesco has gone decidedly down market, a Waitrose in Poynton would add considerably to the attraction of the shopping area, in the same way it has enhanced Cheadle Hulme.
