Bosses at a coffee shop championed by BBC Breakfast star Bill Turnbull welcomed him to their new store for a final cup of coffee.

Bill, who lived in Rainow while he worked on BBC Breakfast, said Livesey’s , which has moved to Chestergate from High Street, Bollington, served the ‘finest cup of coffee’ with ‘cheeky banter on the side at no extra charge’.

Bill is leaving the town after retiring from BBC Breakfast but found time to be guest of honour with Macclesfield mayor Liz Durham at the opening of the new Livesey’s.

Jo Weselby owns the business and employs long-term friend Dave Freel as manager. Her daughter Kathryn Clark is also working full time.

Jo said: “Bill Turnbull was a regular customer and we were delighted he came to open our new shop. We still have a deli counter like the old shop but it’s more of a coffee and sandwich shop. We wanted to progress the business and move to the high street so Macclesfield was the obvious choice.

“Businesses have come and gone in Macclesfield but people have a passion for the town and we’ve won accolades for our sandwiches so we decided to go for it.”
