Thirty-six hours - that’s all it took for the Barnaby Festival to sell out of tickets for a cosmic evening with Professors Brian Cox and Tim O’Brien.

The astrophysicists, who will discuss the Universe at a special event at St Michael’s Church, have so far been the most popular on the Barnaby calendar, with 350 single tickets selling out faster than any other.

The event is among dozens planned for this year’s Barnaby Festival, which runs from June 17 to 26.

Professor Brian Cox will appear at Barnaby Festival

Karl Wallace, festival director, said: “We are delighted that this event has been so popular.

“We sold 350 tickets in 36 hours. The only tickets now available are with the five star pass.”

A limited number of tickets for In Conversation with Professors Brian Cox and Tim O’Brien are still available through Barnaby’s Five Star Pass scheme, which gives people access to five headline shows for £50.

The special offer includes comedian Francesca Martinez’ Wobbly Manifesto; the BBC’s Nick Robinson ‘In Conversation’; string quartet cabaret ‘Graffiti Classics’ and exclusive music double bill John Bramwell (I Am Kloot) and Recreations (Sam Duckworth), all at St Michael’s Church, Macclesfield.

Nick Robinson

Karl added: “The next ‘must have’ ticket is promising to be an ‘In Conversation’ between Macclesfield-born BBC broadcaster Nick Robinson and special guest to be announced shortly.

“But don’t forget there are a hundred other events, and the five star pass is a way to encourage people to see a number of different events for a discount price.

“We would also encourage people not to forget the events by local artists which is fantastic.”
