Will it be festive at Macc Hospital?

Vic Barlow
15/11/2006

LOCAL residents certainly made their feelings known about Macclesfield General Hospital. Over 50,000 signed a petition against the closure of women and children's services.

The statistics have now been collated and the joint committee of the Primary Care Trust say they will make their decision in December. What's wrong with November?

Surely they won't announce their decision on the run up to Christmas, then disappear for a long holiday... will they?

I could be wrong, they could make everything clear on December 1, and hang around for public reaction but I doubt it. The way they stage-managed meetings to minimise public involvement and only changed tack when they'd been rumbled does not bode well.

My money is on a shock announcement just before Christmas followed by a dash for the exit. Look, forget I said that. The Primary Care Trust will make their announcement in EARLY December, it will all be good news and there will be no hidden agenda (and fairies will dance at the bottom of your garden).
