Everything's great in my corner of the NHS

ASK anyone’s opinion of the NHS and you’re likely to hear it praised to the heavens or castigated as an inept third world organisation. If you’ve endured an agonising wait for test results left on some inept doctor’s desk for weeks or been confined to a filthy ward you’ll certainly have an opinion but it won't be good.

If, on the other hand, a caring nurse has comforted you through a serious illness or your child’s life has been saved by the skill of a dedicated surgeon you'll be searching for superlatives.
