Pupils will be driven to distraction

Vic Barlow
9/ 4/2008

A TEACHER once wrote on my school report ‘Victor often looks miles away’. As from September, many Wilmslow pupils will be just that. In fact they’ll be so many miles away they’ll need to leave home at the crack of dawn to avoid detention.

Pupils who live in Handforth have been offered places at Winsford, while pupils at Alderley Edge have Northwich as their alternative to attending Wilmslow High.

I thought that this was an April Fools thing (do you still have that), but it was reported in last weeks Wilmslow Express.

I find it hard that a School and Education Authority could be so inefficient. How can a child be expected to travel so far to school? and whatever happened to a promise regarding Parental Choice?

Are they supposed to be good teachers, these school heads. A basic rule in teaching is "Failing to plan, is planning to fail"

Should less emphasis be placed on the results of tests and more emphasis on general education for children?
