Police are appealing for information after a woman was assaulted while walking her dog this morning (Friday, December 11).

The 45-year-old victim was walking down an alleyway off Pownall Square, Macclesfield, when she was grabbed by a man.

During a struggle she fell to the floor banging her head and needed hospital treatment.

The suspect then made off.

The incident took place at 7.30am on Friday December 11.

DS Pete Carter said: “The victim was taken to Macclesfield Hospital to be treated for what are believed to be minor injuries, but this was clearly a distressing ordeal for her and we are supporting her. I would urge anyone who was in the vicinity early this morning and saw anyone acting suspiciously to contact police.”
