A record number of runners took part in the gruelling Bollington Festival Three Peaks Fell Race.

There were 232 entries in the 9km race, which took in Kerridge Hill and White Nancy before a tough finish through steep woodland to the recreation ground.

The winner was Damian Nicholls, of Wilmslow Athletics Club, with a time of 39min 5secs.

Steph Ward, from Macclesfield, took the womens title in 46min 57secs. The event raised £540 for Bollington Festival.

Andy Skelhorn, from the event, said: “Runners from far and wide enjoyed the race, as well as the beer, chilli and banter after at the Adlington Road brewery.”
