A devastated dog owner has spoken of her distress after one of her kidnapped pets was found dead by railway tracks.

Tina Cumberlidge launched a Facebook appeal after dogs Victor and Lottie went missing in the early hours of Easter Monday.

The pair were sleeping in Tina’s BMW estate when it was stolen from a caravan park in Higher Poynton

West Highland Terrier Lottie was later discovered wandering the streets around two miles from the Elm Beds Caravan Park where she was taken.

After being reunited with the little dog, Tina and her husband Pete continued their desperate search for 12-year-old Border Collie Victor.

However, their hopes were shattered by the bombshell news that the dog’s body had been seen on railway tracks near Macclesfield on Monday afternoon.

The couple now believe Victor was hit and fatally injured by a train, after being callously let loose by the car thief.

An appeal to help Tina and Pete find their dogs was shared on Facebook more than 1,000 times.

In a heartbreaking update on Monday afternoon Tina wrote: “Thank you to everyone for their help and support. Unfortunately we have not got the happy ending we were hoping for.

“While Lottie has been found safe and sound, sadly Victor has died after being struck by a train.

“We are very sad to bring you this news but thank everyone who has helped today because it was your information that led us to Lottie.”

Tina and Pete had travelled with their dogs from their home in Bristol to stay at their friend’s caravan park over the Easter weekend.

Tina said she was devastated when she woke up at around 7am to discover that the family pets had been taken along with the car from Elm Beds Caravan Park, in Higher Poynton.

Lottie was later found wandering the streets around two miles from the caravan park and has been returned to Tina and Pete.

Both dog blankets were found on Towers Road Poynton and the couple believe both pets may have been dumped there.

Pete and Tina believe that their 3series black BMW Tourer - which has the registration WX63 TWP - was taken from the caravan park, on Elm Beds Road, between 2am and 7am on Monday, March 28.

Anyone with information about the incident should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
