MACCLESFIELD Town's FA Cup tie against Sheffield Wednesday this Saturday is set to be a sell out.
According to the club as of Monday night only 120 tickets were left for the Third Round clash.

With 2,500 tickets already snapped up by Championship side Sheffield Wednesday fans, it means Moss Rose is set to be rammed with 4,000 Macclesfield fans cheering on their beloved Silkmen.

If Macclesfield beat Sheffield Wednesday, the club will move into the fourth round and bank £67,500.

Every penny is needed to rouse the club from a financial nightmare that puts its very future in doubt.

The leader of Cheshire East Council is backing the Silkmen, who are the lowest-ranked team left in the competition, to win.Councillor Michael Jones said: “We’ve every confidence that Macclesfield can do it – and we’re urging everyone to get behind them. I certainly am. “We all know that the club has gone through some difficult patches, largely due to its financial position, but we’re hoping this could be a huge boost to the club’s coffers.

“As it stands, Macclesfield is currently the lowest ranking in terms of league position in the competition, but there’s a buzz about the club and they’re on great form.

“They’ve scored 14 goals in the FA cup to-date and have conceded only two and the fact that they’re playing on home turf, the feeling is they could just do it.”

Barrie Darcey, director at Macc Town, said the club appreciated Cheshire East Council's support. He said: "The FA Cup is a welcome boost for the club, both financially and for team moral. The exposure the FA Cup brings from the media can only help the Silkmen do well in the future.”

Tickets for the match are £5 for under-12s, £10 for under-18s, £16 for concessions, and £20 for adults (seated) or £16 (terraces). They are available from the club or Macclesfield Tourist Information Centre at the Town Hall.
