A shopping centre which began stopping anyone with mobility problems from going in has revoked its ban .

Bosses at the Grosvenor Shopping Centre prompted anger and confusion last Thursday (January 28) when security guards began stopping people with mobility issues and parents with more than one child from accessing the shops.

It followed a notice on Wednesday from the Cheshire Fire Authority, which said they had ‘serious’ safety concerns because certain shoppers could not evacuate unaided via the staircases.

But now centre bosses have confirmed the centre will allow all customers access after discussions with the fire authority.

Ed Kennedy, Centre Manager of the Grosvenor Shopping Centre said: “The Grosvenor Centre management can confirm we have agreed measures with Cheshire Fire Authority, which will enable us to open the centre to all customers from today.

“We would like to thank our customers for their patience during this time.”
