A former primary school headteacher has been charged with historic child sex offences after a police investigation into allegations of abuse.

Paul Colquhoun, 70, from Sale, has been charged with nine counts of indecent assault.

The alleged offences relate to two girls and one boy who were pupils at St Benedict’s Catholic Primary School in Handforth.

Mr Colquhoun appeared before Macclesfield magistrates’ court on February 20. He was released on conditional bail and will next appear at Chester Crown Court on June 18.

Cheshire Police said specialist officers had worked with the alleged victims. The school, on Hall Road, refused to comment.
