MUSIC: David Essex, Opera House, May 22

14/ 5/2008

IN WAS in the 1974 film Stardust that David Essex gave one of his most memorable film performances.

Thirty years later, and that magical stardust powder still seems to be in plentiful supply.

I was at the David Essex concert at the Opera House on May 22nd and he gave an incredible performance. He oozes charm, wit and charisma in bucketloads and has a great rapport with his audience. From the early 70's material such as Rock On and Lamplight up to the present new tracks from his latest album 'Happy Ever After' - they all sounded so fresh. One of this nations finest entertainers without question and those blue eyes and cheeky grin - well what can I say?
