Macclesfield Expats - try our map!

ARE you a former resident of Macclesfield who has moved abroad and who wants to get back in touch with people still living in the town? Do you know of friends or family who have moved overseas and you want to try and track them down? Well here's your chance with our new interactive map ...

In this section, we're giving an opportunity for people who were parted when locals decided to make new lives overseas to make contact once again.

If you are an ex-pat, who wants to know the whereabouts of a pal or relative, send us the details and we'll post them up here. The same is true of locals - let us know if you want to get back in touch with a local who has left these shores. You never know - they might just visit this site, read your message and you could be reunited.

Alternatively, ex-pats can write to us simply if they want to let the folks back home know what they've been up to, how life overseas is treating them, and what they miss about Macclesfield.

All you have to do to take advantage of this service is to click here to go to our interactive map of the world , then click on the part of the map where you live. Your own pinpoint will appear which you can move to the exact location you want (use the controls on the top-right of the map to move around and to zoom in and out, right down to street level).

A form will also appear which will allow you to give your name, contact details, reason for moving and anything else you want to share with us.

My sister, Elizabeth (Liz) McCourt went to All Hallows Comprehensive in Maccelsfield, starting her first year there about 1977 or 1978. I would really appreciate any memories regarding her time at the school.

Also, I went to St. Alban's primary school (the old building) when I was 10 (so probably 1969). If anyone can share any information about Sean Mallon (not sure of the spelling) who was also in that class, I'd really appreciate that, too.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW? Hello did you attend St George's School in 1932 onwards. I am searching for some of my mother's school friends. My mother's name was Barbara Heathcote and living in Old Mill Lane. The names I am looking for are: Barbara Capper Posiibly married to William Metcalf Hides in 1952. Ellen Palmer Possibly married to Geoffrey Arthur Renee in 1951. Sylvia Steel and lastly May Jarvis. Hello.

I am looking to trace one of my mother's school friends, her name was Alice Hudson, Alice used to attend St George's school in Macclesfield, I believe Alice had two brothers named James and Joseph Hudson. Alice married Josiah Slater in 1947 at Macclesfield St Peter. My mother's name at the time of her school days was Barbara Heathcote. If any one knows of Alice or can put me in touch with her family that would be great. Hi all, I am hoping that someone may be able to help me in tracing the decendants of Sarah Alice Press, she married James Clifford Hulme in 1928 at Beech Lane Methodist Church. Sadly James died in 1939. As far as I know they had one daughter named Doris Hulme born in 1929 in Bollington Cheshire. Doris married Wilfred Henry Barlow in 1950 at Hurdsfield Holy Trinity Church. Doris's mother Sarah Alice re-married in 1943 to George Brooks at Hurdsfield Holy Trinity Church. James Clifford Hulme was the brother of Denis Hulme. Denis's daughter Jean would love to make contact, so to would my mother whose name was Barbara Heathcote, daughter of Phyllis Hulme and John W Heathcote. Can anyone help me find my three cousins or their families? I am trying to find relatives of James Houghton Hulme who was born in Bolton and was the son of Thomas Hulme and Margaret Alice Houghton on 29th April 1891. James married Nora Hindley in Heywood Lancashire. They had two children in Heywood a daughter call Nora Hindley Hulme and a son called John Hindley Hulme. They had another son called Donald Hulme born in Stockport. Thomas Hulme was my Grandfather. Thomas and Margaret had three other children called Stanley, Harols and Bessie. In 1913 Thomas married Hannah Butterworth and had two children Annie and Eddie. Eddie was my father. I believe they had an argument and I am 57 and have never met any of my cousins. PLease if you know them or of them could you let me know.

Hi. My name's Gavin Thurston. I'm hardly an ex-pat but am now settled with a family in High Wycombe, Bucks. Went to Prestbury School between 1977-1980 then Fallibroome from 80-86. Get up to Macc occasionally as my Head Office is in Manchester. Have had little contact except for chance meetings with Rory Kidd, John Fishwick, John Duncan (who I understand sadly passed away last year), Simon Carless, Chris Penney and my old mukka Codge (Carlo Coxon). Lived in Yew Tree Way, Prestbury, Irwell Rise, Bollington and High Stree Macc before traipsing off 'round England for a bit. Would love to hear from anyone who knew me - even if we didn't get on (& there weren't that many).

I am a Maxonian living in Canada and have recently discovered the Old Macc Magazine .When I read this magazine I reconnect with the town I love . The magazine will send it to ex-pats for 3 pounds a copy . The wonderful memories of school days and events from the past mean a great deal . Well!...Despite that no-one has responded to my message/query written some time ago.. "anyone remember Rowe family..70's Decade..Fallibroome Rd"..

Would Like to pass on to ALL those still around(?) who worked with...Ex-patients to whom provided Help/Support when Nursing @ Parkside.. And any remaining Family Members of those worked with who have since passed away..

Sincere Condolences to Families of deceased Colleagues/Friends...
