EX-ROYAL Navy serviceman Mr James Anthony Ward, of Waingate Close, Rawtenstall, died after a long illness at Fairfield General Hospital, Bury, aged 63.
Mr Ward, known as Sharky, served in the Royal Navy for 24 years, retiring as a communications yeoman. He then went on to become a systems analyst for 16 years for Greater Manchester Police, retiring in 2007.
He enjoyed course fishing and was a member of Lumb Valley Anglers. He also enjoyed gardening and had a lifelong love of trains, especially steam trains, and he was a member of East Lancashire Railway Preservation Society.
He leaves his wife Ann, son Peter, daughter Nicola, daughter-in-law Sonia, son-in-law Dave and grandchildren Millie, Aliyah and Anya.
