Doris Patton

AN award-winning grandmother, Mrs Doris Patton, of Hillside Road, Haslingden, died on Monday at the Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 74.

Mrs Patton was employed as a winder at Hardmans and Smith and Nephew, in Rawtenstall. She was married to Jim for 55 years and together they fostered children for 20 years, winning a Grandparents of the Year award in 2000.

She leaves her husband Jim, her daughters Adele, Karen, Denise, Marilyn, Michelle and son Raymond and their loved ones as well as 22 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, brother Lesley and sister Olive.

Her funeral is next Wednesday when the Rev Roger Smith will conduct a service and cremation at Accrington at 11.40am.
