Crowds thought The Stig from TV's Top Gear had come to Alderley Edge when a helmet-clad racing driver appeared out of a Mustang to switch on the Christmas lights. The driver was accompanied to the stage at The Parade by two girls in Christmas costume for the switch-on event attended by hundreds of people.
