Cheshire East Council

Cheshire East Council was formed in 2009 and was always Conservative controlled until the May 2019 election when the Tories lost their majority and Labour and the Independent Group agreed to work together to run the authority. The Conservatives are still the largest group on the council with 33 councillors, Labour has 25, the Independent Group 16, the Liberal Democrats have four, the Real Independents two and there are two Independent councillors described as 'non-grouped'.
